We were quite impressed with Barry right from the start when he took his time (over 1 hour) to explain to us what we were getting and what was included in the total Price. What we liked about Barry's system was the bottom suction, which lets you clean your pool even when the water level is far below the skimmer box....

....We even got quite a lot of after service. This was our first pool so we had a lot of questions and weren't always sure about things. Barry was always helpful and pointed us into the right direction. He even replaced a piece for free that our little son broke. It's now been 4 years since you built my swimming pool and I thought that it was time to put pen to paper and say thank you!

Most letters of recommendation are written at or around the time of pool commissioning; the fact that I am now doing this 4 years down the track I think speaks volumes for Distinctive Pools. The pool looks as good as the day it was commissioned - I still get people commenting on how nice it looks with the Quartzon finish and the natural coping stone. All of your expert advice regarding filter sizes and leaf canisters, etc, has paid off in the long run with the outcome of reduced maintenance. The Chemigem system has been great as has the solar heating.

I guess Barry, the thing that impresses me the most about dealing with you was your total professionalism from the first day we sat down to discuss the prospect of a pool and the fact that everything you aid you would do - you did! In addition, 4 years later you have shown a real commitment to customer service by assisting me with a technical issue and I would doubt that many pool builders would have gone out of their way, gone that extra mile if you like, to assist the way Barry Trewin did. The total time from sign to swim (approx. 5 weeks) was totally amazing. As was the follow up with the solar heating.

Having never attempted any major improvements beofre, it was encouraging to deal with all the friendly and professional people involved in the whole process.

The installation of the Chemigem system is great, with very little mainenance and no irritation to our eyes or my skin.

We also appreciated your suggestions regarding the extras such as coping, pebblecrete, stencilcrete and fencing.

"Dear Barry,

....From the time we first met with you for a quote, we have considered ourselved incredibly fortunate to have correctly chosen who we entrusted to construct our pool. As we discussed with you, our main reason for signing up with you was your passionate belief that your pool was right for us. Also, you were not afraid to let us know when ouir reasoning was unjustified, and you patiently explained why your way was right. And, right you were!

When we met with you for a consultation and for you to prepare you quote, we expected, considerieng the amount of "extras" you were supplying (ie, fire fighting hose, main drains, etc), that we would be able to afford your pool. Your quote was slightly (ie about $500) more than most of our other quotes. Then, on finalisation, you refunded to us the everestimation of excavation fees of almost $500. Your quote contained a $1500 allowance for excavation, the others allowed between $600 to $800. That would have worked out that we would have paid MORE for any of the other company's pools anyway....

...Just to confirm our time line with you, we signed our contract on 13 December, 2004, knowing full well that most construction companies closed down for a few weeks over Christmas and New Year. You began construction of the pool on 6 January, 2005 and we had the water init and were swimming on 26 January 2005. A total of 20 days to construct from start to finish. We had a hard time keeping up with you and constructing our own pool fence in time for certification!...."

We can't believe we are writing this letter having just swum in our new pool! We are delighted with the result and acknowledge you unwavering commitment to our unique project from inital contact to final handover. We were directed your way initially by a very positive verbal recommendation - thank goodness for that. We already had several quotes from numerous pool builders for both fibreglass and concrete pools. With each quote came more and more questions but yours was by far the most comprehensive - you made it clear what was going to happen, when and how much it would cost! You were genuine in your approach and communication was very open. In fact you were here to build what we wanted, not just "put a pool in".

Barry, we signed our contract on 17 March 2008, our pool (very big spa extension) was excavated on 15 April, water was filled on 2 May and we swam that afternoon. 17 days from dig to swim (including 1 public holiday)! We couldn't believe it and neither could many of our friends and family. You were honest and upfront about all our options. You are a man of you word. Any issues were addressed promptly and in fact several of your suggestions saved us time, money and effort while enhancing the end result. It was a pleasure dealing with your entire team, including all sub-contractors. From Phil the excavator operator, to Tommy and his concrete crew, Kevin and Alan the tilers, Ash and his Pebblecrete crew and even Wayne the water carrier. All were extremely professional in carrying out their jobs and the respect shown to our family was unbelievable. All showed great enthusiasm in contributing to our project.

We are delighted with the pool building journey and even more so with the result. In fact, we have been blessed with how easily the Distinctive Pools team has turned our vision into reality! Happy customers we are and have no hesitation in recommending your company to others in the future.

The Chemigem system is so simple to use and because we have the option to select chlorine levels our daughter who sufferes from excema has not suffered from any skin irritation.

We love the fact that the main drain cleaning system cleans the bottom of the pool eliminating the need for a cleaning vacuum (eg. Kreepy Krawly). The main drain cleaning system is a godsend now that we are in drought. We have been using the pool for storing water after rain to water the garden and when the water level is low we just wait until it rains to top up therefore not relying on town water at all......"
